The INTRODUCTION......

                    Assalamualaikum-warehmatullahi-wabarakatuhu...
Does it sound like a familiar greeting!!!! or do u prefer to say "hi" or "hey" or a more "WESTERN" way of "wassup"... ? Well like all the other cultured muslimahs (muslim women) around the world, brought up with strong family & religious values, i prefer a normal  "salam" to other forms of greeting...But does it really matter how we greet other people when we meet them???whether we say hello or hi or wassup or salam??? Well most people think that the way we greet each other reflects our beliefs & our cultural inclination... of course, here, i am talking about greeting other people in a social gathering.... Greetings in an official setup are.... welll..... mostly restricted to a very formal "goodmorning". Now may be you r thinking why on earth am I talking about this greeting & "stufff... like that".... r u not??? hehe... may be u r.... well i am talking about it because huuhhh..... what's the first thing u notice about a muslim girl when u talk to her ..aaahh ofcourse , other than her hijab??? Its the very beginning of her conversation with a greeting of "asslamualaikum" (means 'peace be unto u'). This greeting might give u an impression that she is ... what people like to believe 'an orthodox' muslim girl, who doesn't know how to have fun & is  'oppressed  (or this is what most of the so called progressive people like to think)... & may be always confined to house , never going out, so she doesnt knw any other way of greeting.... blah blah blah blah....... .. well seriously this is what  most of the people think when they hear a 'salam' or when they see a girl in a hijab.... But here I am trying to change this perception, of the world, about a muslim girl, who can be well educated , modern , progressive yet strongly adherent to her religious beliefs....
As a simple,21yrs old middle class girl , I too face many problems & dilemmas in my life like any other girl of my age.... & also some additional dilemmas when ,time & again, my ISLAMIC values clash with the hmmmm.... " cultures " of a MODERN SOCIETY... Through this blog I would like to invite u to a journey through the heart of a muslim girl(myself).... to feel her feeling ... to hear her thoughts ... to understand her dilemmas & may be to solve them..... May be then u will understand  muslim girls better.... & stop labeling them as oppressed.........

                                                                                              ...................to be continued...
